CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WTVR)—A police chase that began around 7:00 p.m. started in Chesterfield over an undercover drug operation and ended with three police vehicles hit.

Police sources say the chase  began as an undercover drug operation.

The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle and police pursued. The suspect fled down Robious Road to Huguenot, then onto Route 288 South, hitting high speeds before ending in Powhatan.

Several accidents occurred as a result of the chase, said police sources and witnesses.

The first accident occurred near the Sunrise apartment complex on Midlothian, and involved two police vehicles.

"There was a red car, and two cop cars are following them, and there`s a real sharp turn. The two cops hit each other," said Michelle Love.

“The blue car was right here and the gold car was back here, and I heard the crash and I saw them back up,” said  B.J. Flippo.

Three unmarked vehicles total were crashed in the chase, said CBS 6 reporter Jon Burkett. The second crash occurred at Huguenot and Robious Roads. A citizen's car was hit and they were taken to the hospital, said police sources.

Police say there are no officer injuries and that three suspects are in custody. Road work and traffic were factors on 288 south that allowed police to box the suspects in and make the arrest.

Chesterfield County has released the names and charges of those arrested in relation to last night's pursuit.
