Flesh-eating man posted Bible verses to Facebook before attack

MIAMI (WTVR) – The man shot and killed by police while eating the flesh off another man in Miami over the weekend posted bible versus to his Facebook page, according to a report in the Miami Herald.

The Herald reported two days before the flesh-eating attack, Rudy Eugene, 31, posted a verse from Psalm 59 on his Facebook page: “Deliver me from my enemies, O my Lord; Defend me from those who rise up against me. For the Lord God is my defense….’’ [Read the Miami Herald article]

Eugene’s girlfriend told WFOR-TV Rudy was not a monster. She said she is stunned by what he’s accused of doing.

It's unclear what led to the attack, but officials suspect drugs may have played a role.  The homeless man was identified as 65-year-old Ronald Poppo. He survived the attack, but his nose, mouth and eyes were torn off his face.  

Poppo was listed in critical condition at last check Wednesday.
