BRUNKSWICK COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - A northern Virginia woman who was pulled from the bottom of a local lake Sunday has died in the hospital.
Investigators with the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office told CBS 6 Senior Reporter Wayne Covil that the victim was taking a scuba diving lesson with her husband at Lake Rawlings in Brunswick County.
Lake officials said the woman, who is in her mid thirties, disappeared from the group Sunday afternoon around 1:15.
When they found her, she was at the bottom of the lake and no longer breathing. Her rescuers performed CPR until she could be med-flighted to VCU Medical Center.
However, officials said the woman died at VCU Medical Center hours after she was pulled from the lake.
