SALEM, NH (WTVR) - A New Hampshire boy has gone from being a fan of comic book characters -- to becoming one of them.
4-year-old Anthony Smith was born with a chromosomal disorder that left him with severe hearing loss, but a couple of months ago he started refusing to wear his hearing aid.
His explanation: heroes don't wear hearing aids.
So Smith's mother wrote to Marvel, asking them if they could prove her son wrong, and they responded by creating a hearing impaired caped crusader with a name smith recognized, blue ear, the special name he has for his hearing aid.
"We said 'There's his hearing aid--Oh my gosh, he's really wearing a hearing aid' and he wouldn't let it go," Chistina D'allesandro, Smith's mother, said.
This new superhero not only encouraged Anthony to keep his hearing aid in but to do great things just like superheroes.
