Two women stabbed, one dead, in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - Richmond Police have determined that two Sunday morning stabbings in the city's south side are indeed linked.

Police said the first reports came in for a stabbing in the 3000 block of Hull St. at around 1:26 a.m. There they found a woman suffering from multiple stab wounds.

She was taken to VCU Medical Center and is in stable condition at this hour.

While on scene, witnesses directed to police to another stabbing nearby in the 300 block of Swansboro Ln.

Police said that victim, Rakita J. McClenny, 29, of the 4300 block of E. Marshall St. was pronounced dead on the scene.

Spokeswoman Dionne Waugh says detectives have developed a strong lead on a person of interest in this case.
