PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – Three Prince Edward County men are behind bars after 645 marijuana plants, powder cocaine and firearms were seized from their property Thursday night.
Virginia State Police say the property is located in the 2400 block of Lockett Road in Rice.
Federal, state and local law enforcement executed the search warrant. State police say 645 marijuana plants at various stages of growth were seized. Police say the plants have an estimated street of value of $2.26 million.
Police also seized four grams of powder cocaine, with an estimated street value of $400; 17 firearms; multiple vehicles; and equipment used for the cultivation of the marijuana from the property.
Three men, Mark R. Elliott, 34; Andrew R. McCabe, 24; and David B. Vardaro, 35 were taken into custody. They are being held without bond at the Piedmont Regional Jail. Each man is charged with one count of manufacturing marijuana. Police say additional charges are pending.
State police say the investigation is being conducted as part of the Governor’s Initiative Against Narcotics Trafficking (G.I.A.N.T.).
