CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – Chesterfield police said a 16-year-old student was arrested for threatening to blow up an area high school Thursday.

Officials said Friday that the teen was charged with threatening to bomb or damage a public building.

As police investigated a threat made by a student against Cosby High School on Fox Club Parkway, the teen was arrested and taken into custody.

Police said they searched the building and school grounds, as a precaution, with help from Virginia State Police, Richmond police and Chesterfield County Public Schools.

That search turned up nothing.

Additional charges are not expected at this time, according to police.
