CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WTVR)- As news broke that muscle car legend Carroll Shelby died, CBS-6 visited with Lane Ramsey, former Chesterfield County Manager and a huge Shelby fan. He has both a rare – one of eight – 1969 Shelby Mustang with the drag pack option, as well as a 2010 Shelby Mustang.
For his 60th birthday, Ramsey’s wife and his deputy county manager arranged a surprise meeting with the legendary car-maker. Ramsey found the famous driver and designer to be “down to earth” and fascinated by how car fans had preserved or modified and loved his creations.
Be sure to watch Mark Holmberg’s video report. Ramsey offered him a chance to drive the rare and powerful beast! When asked why he would let someone like Holmberg drive his valuable car, Ramsey said what’s the point of having such a historic machine if you keep it to yourself.
