CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - A Chesterfield toddler is fighting for his life after he was hit by a pick-up truck Friday night.
Police said the single-vehicle accident happened in the 2200 block of Willis Road around 10 p.m.
Family members told CBS 6 News' Sandra Jones Saturday that they saw the toddler run into the street. [INTERVIEW: Family members talk about witnessing horrific accident.]
"I thought he was dead. I didn't feel a pulse or nothing," Beverly-Jo Lapastora said as she saw the tragedy unfold.
"The truck hit him. He flew in the air. He did three somersaults in the freakin' air."
The two-year-old child was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police are investigating the crash. They said the driver is not facing any charges.
