RICHMOND, Va (WTVR) – It's another busy weekend in the River City. Expect delays and heavy traffic due to several events. The Flying Squirrels are having their opening weekend which means games Friday, Saturday and Sunday. First pitch Friday and Saturday is 6:05pm. Sunday the game will begin at 2:05. Avoid the area around the Diamond unless you are attending those games.
The X Chili Cookoff will also take place Saturday from 11am until 9pm. The event will take place at the Richmond Raceway Complex. Avoid the major roadways around RIR such as Laburnum or Meadowbridge if possible.
The RVA Street Festival will also take place Saturday and Sunday and could cause some onlooker delays and street closures. Expect heavy traffic between 11am and 6pm around the Floodwall and the James River Power Plant Building. Artist will transform these structures into giant works of art and organizers will have activities. Expect heavy traffic and closures near 12th and Byrd.
