RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Multiple fire crews have extinguished a brush fire along the Downtown Expressway in Richmond.
Traffic was reduced to one lane west of the toll plaza for much of Friday afternoon.
The fire was about a quarter of a mile west of the toll plaza on an embankment near the Boulevard exit.
Official said the blaze was likely sparked by a contractor working on the Open Road Tolling project. That contractor tried to put out the fire before calling the fire department.
