RICHMOND, Va (WTVR) – Opening night for the Richmond Flying Squirrels is Thursday night and it’s expected to be a packed house. Individual ticket sales are sold out and heavy traffic is expected. The opening day celebrations will start early. Here’s a list of the celebrations:
-Gates open: 4:30 p.m. with live pre-game entertainment with the No BS! Brass Band.-
5:30 p.m.: winners of the 2012 Concourse Art Contest will be recognized on the field followed by the presentation of the Flying Squirrels new on-field emcee, the Vendortainers, Flingo the Flamingo and the Wacky Hot Dog Vendor, and the Molly Maids Dancing Queens.
-6:30 p.m. Dale Murphy will throw out a ceremonial first pitch.
-6:35 p.m.: Game Begins!
Try and avoid the area between 4pm and 7pm unless you are attending the game.The Squirrels will have over 21 different fireworks shows this year. If you would like a complete list of those you can click here.

• Saturday, April 14th: 6:35 PM – Altoona Curve (Flying Squirrels’ Western Division Champions Fleece Blanket Giveaway presented by Budweiser – 21 and older)
• Sunday, April 15th: 2:05 PM – Altoona Curve (Flying Squirrels’ Batting Gloves Giveaway presented by HCA Virginia Health System – 14 and under)
• Monday, April 16th: 6:35 PM – Reading Phillies (Alpaca Appreciation Night presented by An Elite Group of Virginia Alpaca Breeders)
• Tuesday, April 17th: 6:35 PM – Reading Phillies (Go Green Night)
• Wednesday, April 18th: 10:35 AM – Reading Phillies (Education Day)
