NYPD arrests Richmond man with loaded handgun on subway

NEW YORK (WTVR)- A Richmond man is behind bars in New York City after two NYPD officers arrested him on the subway with a loaded handgun.

NYPD sources tells our sister station WPIX in New York that Officers Mohammed Ahmed and Adam England were patrolling the subway station at 8th Avenue and 42nd Street at around 5:30 Friday evening when they noticed a black male walk through the exit gate and enter the transit system illegally.

Police say when the officers apprehended the suspect, he was observed attempting to discard a plastic bag with a white powdering substance inside. The officers arrested the man, 26 year-old Travis Marks of the 9200 block of Greenford Ave., and then discovered a loaded Bryco 59 9MM caliber semi-automatic handgun in his waist band.

Marks is facing charges of Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Trespassing, and Theft of Service.
