HOLLYWOOD, Ca. (WTVR) “The Muppet Show” ran from 1976-1981, with more than 120 episodes aired. Today the collective cast of puppets received a star on the famous Walk of Fame.

After the confetti was swept away, a new star gleamed triumphantly from the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The Muppets are the latest addition to the walk, which spans 15 blocks. There are more than 2,000 five-pointed stars embedded along the walk.

Kermit the Frog previously received his own star, as have Jim Henson and Big Bird.

The date coincides with the release of ‘The Muppets’ on home video.  Other stars inducted today were Laura Dern, Danny DeVito, Melissa Etheridge, Tina Fey, Neil Patrick Harris, Ed O'Neill, Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon and John Wells.

“I want to say on behalf of the Muppets that we are really happy to be here today and join some of the greatest names in show business,” said Kermit at the event.
