OMAHA, Neb. (WTVR) - Just like VCU last year, Norfolk State was determined to mess up tournament brackets across the country this season.
Kyle O'Quinn scored 26 points and pulled down 14 rebounds to lead the Spartans to the biggest upset to date in this year's tournament....86-84 over second seeded Missouri.
The MEAC tournament champions...making their first ever appearance in the NCAA's since joining Division I...became just the fifth 15th seed to beat a two seed and the first to do since Hampton upset Iowa St. in 2001.
"It was one of the most intense basketball games I've ever been a part of," said Norfolk State head coach Anthony Evans after the game.
Next up for the Spartans is Florida, who beat Virginia earlier in Omaha 71-45, for a trip to the Sweet 16 next week.
