RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Skies will remain partly to mostly cloudy today as a weakening storm system moves into the region, bringing a chance for scattered light rain showers in central Virginia. If you do get some of the rain, totals will be less than a tenth of an inch. High pressure moves into the Mid-Atlantic for Wednesday, with mostly sunny skies and mild highs in the upper 50s.
Another storm system (currently over the Southwest U.S.) expected on Thursday will bring all of the Commonwealth a good chance of rain, mainly in the afternoon hours. Accumulations from that system look like they will range from a quarter of an inch to a half-inch of rain Thursday.
A third system (currently approaching the Pacific Northwest) will be possible on S Surface temperatures depicted by the computer models are marginal, so it’s possible that the snow could be melting as it falls and have a difficult time accumulating. In addition, the exact track of this storm system is still uncertain and will significantly impact the type of precipitation we receive, how much, and even if we get anything from the system at all (for example, if it tracks too far southeast of us, we’ll miss out entirely on precipitation chances). We’ll track this system carefully and bring you updates on the air and online.
