RICHMOND, Va (WTVR)- A bill ending the current tenure system for public school teachers has cleared the House Education Committee.
The proposal initiated by Governor Bob McDonnell would end the current practice of offering teachers an open-ended contract after they complete a three year probationary period.
One major change was made before the bill was advanced.
The legislation would not affect teachers already in the system
