WAVERLY, Va. (WTVR) – Sussex County Fire officials are entering the investigative stages of a multiple alarm fire that destroyed a convenience store in the Waverly area Sunday morning.
Eddie Vick with the Sussex Fire Department tells CBS 6 they received a call before 7:00 a.m. Sunday for reports of heavy smoke and fire at a convenience store in the 700 block of W. Main St.
The fire was so big, Prince George County fire fighters were also called to the scene to assist. In all, as many as four or five companies were fighting the blaze.
Fire fighters had the fire under control at around 10:20 a.m. They say the building is destroyed, and they are bringing in special equipment to remove what’s left of the roof and begin to investigate the cause of the fire.
