HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – A Virginia Beach man arrested for bringing a gun to Richmond International Airport (RIC) in his carryon luggage last year was found guilty on two charges Wednesday.
Christopher Shackelford, 46, was found guilty on Carrying a Weapon in an Airport Terminal and Concealed Weapon Carry charges.
RIC officials said TSA officers found a .45 caliber Ruger with two loaded magazines, each containing seven rounds, in Shackelford’s carry-on luggage in November.
Shackelford was sentenced to a $100 fine and a six-month suspended sentence for each charge since he had no criminal record.
Ed Vaughn, Shackelford’s attorney, said his client appealed the ruling.
Shackelford is scheduled to appear in circuit court again on March 15 at 9 a.m.
