UPDATE: 3 arrested following West End murder

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – Henrico police announced the arrest of two more men Thursday following a West End murder.

Henrico Police spokesperson Lt. Eric Owens wrote in a media release that 26-year-old Montai Christopher Howard, of the 3000 block of Heather Ridge Drive in Richmond, turned himself in Thursday.

Howard was wanted for attempted robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, conspiracy to distribute marijuana, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in the January 18th homicide in the 3000 block of Quarter Creek Lane.

Officers found 22-year-old John Phifer, of Maidens, bleeding from his head and arm in the Twin Hickory neighborhood following the Jan. 18 shooting death of 23-year-old Dreshaun Travis.

Owens said Phifer told them he had driven to Twin Hickory after an altercation inside an apartment on Quarter Creek Lane.

Police have charged Phifer with a series of drug-related crimes including possessing a weapon while possessing schedule I or schedule II drugs and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

Additionally, 23-year-old Daryl Jones, of the 9200 block of Totopotomoy Trail in Ashland, was charged with conspiracy to violate drug control act on Jan. 20.

Police said the investigation into Travis’ murder is on-going and that subject involved in the incident are in custody.
