RICHMOND, Va. — There is so much to see and do in Central Virginia! Every Tuesday, the Virginia This Morning team is sharing a list of six of their favorite things.

Each week, the topic changes, but the goal remains the same — to inspire you to try something new!

Father’s Day coming up on Sunday, June 21. Are you ready? If you’re still looking for a little bit of inspiration for the perfect gift for the dad in your life, we have a few ideas. We asked our team (two of them dads themselves) for a few suggestions.

1. Bill Bevins, co-host

Family time

“The go-to for my family has always been a favorite drink or bottle – but as any dad will tell you, the best gift is time with their child or children. This year, the best gift would be time and a big, long hug…but COVID-19 has postponed that.”

2. Jessica Noll, co-host

German food, oysters, chocolate pie

These are a few of her husband, Matt’s, favorite things. See #6 for another one of Jessica’s Virginia-based gift ideas!

3. Evanne Armour, associate producer

Premium Cocktail Kits from Virginia Distillery Co.

A few weeks ago, we did a Made in Virginia story on the Lovingston-based distillery. The cocktail kits include ingredients you need to make the perfect cocktail – in a box, delivered to your door. Another great pick from Virginia Distillery Co. – their recently-released American single malt whisky Courage and Conviction.

“Distancing with Dad” event at Hardywood West Creek

Spend time together – while socially distanced. This event, happening from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Father’s Day, will feature fresh Hardywood beer as well as food from Rappahannock River Oysters, River City Wood Fire Pizza and jiji frozen custard. Hardywood West Creek is continuing to operate at a limited capacity, outdoors only. Groups will be kept to a 10-person minimum with distance in between.

5. Elijah Hedrick, director

Gift card to a local record shop like Plan9 or Deep Groove

“Something where I can exercise my ‘dusty knuckles’ for a while.”

That’s the dust you get from on your hands from flipping through a stack of old vinyl. Sounds like the perfect way to pass the time!
