RICHMOND, Va. - Dr. Zoe Spencer, a professor at Virginia State University, received an Emmy nomination for a thought-provoking spoken word performance “Say Her Name.”
It sheds light on Black women who have died at the hands of police brutality. Dr. Spencer spoke about the impact Black women have played in human and civil rights as well as the importance of telling the stories of these women, not just on social media.
