RICHMOND, Va. - Local chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated have joined together to create the Metro RVA Connection Collective, which aims to assist local residents in registering to vote, updating voter registration and making their voices heard.

Guest co-host Andrias White Murdaugh had the opportunity to meet with Dr. Roberta Walker and Ms. Vanessa Johnson of the committee to learn more about their “Get Out the Vote” initiative. Click on the video above to hear more and make note of the detailed voter information below.

Don’t Procrastinate! Beat These Dates:

  • May 26th – Deadline to register to vote in the June 23rd election
  • June 16th – Deadline to apply to vote absentee ballot by mail
  • June 20th – Deadline to apply to vote absentee ballot in person
  • June 23rd – Primary (U.S. Senate) Election
  • November 3rd – General Election

To use absentee ballot voting in the June 23, 2020 election:

  • Go to the Virginia Department of Elections website by clicking here.
  • Access your Virginia Voter Record to assure you are still listed as registered.
  • Update your voter registration, if needed. Register online or use the QR code below.
  • Open the application to vote absentee ballot.
  • Choose reason "2A My disability or illness" due to COVID-19
  • Complete the application to vote absentee ballot online OR Print the application to vote absentee ballot and return your completed application by mail OR Print the application to vote absentee ballot and return your completed application in person.

How the community can help:

  • Hover over the QR Code on the Media Blast, which will provide a portal to the When We All Vote® voter registration site.
  • Take a picture of the QR Code and use it to register your children, neighbors, friends, colleagues, peaceful protest participants, church members, students and anyone else who will be 18 or older by election date.
  • Contact us to receive form letters and the media blast which can be emailed to all the persons just listed.
  • Post the “Get Out the Vote” Media Blast on your Social Media.
  • Vote in each election, complete your Census 2020 Form by phone, mail or online ASAP and encourage others to do the same. Visit the Census 2020 website to learn more.
