Two Marines were killed in a crash in North Carolina Wednesday.
Authorities say a seven-ton military vehicle attempted to make a right turn when it overturned into a median.
Seventeen passengers in the back area of the vehicle were ejected, according to North Carolina Highway Patrol.
A military vehicle that was behind the overturned vehicle struck one of the ejected passengers, authorities said.
In addition to the two Marines who died at the scene, 15 were taken to local hospitals.
North Carolina Highway Patrol says the driver of the overturned vehicle, 19-year-old Louis Barrera, exceeded a safe speed for the turn.
He is charged with two counts of death by motor vehicle and one count of exceeding a safe speed.
