RICHMOND, Va. -- Police are investigating if a shooting that killed a teenager on Richmond's Southside and another shooting earlier Sunday are connected.
Police were called to the 500 block of Labrook Drive just after 1:35 p.m.
"When officers arrived, they located a juvenile female in her teens inside a residence suffering from an apparent gunshot wound," a police department spokesperson said.
The girl was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
"The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death," police said.
Police said officers were earlier dispatched to the intersection of Carnation Street and Midlothian Turnpike just after 11:15 a.m. for a "report of a vehicle stopped at the stoplight for a period of time."
"When officers arrived, they found an adult male unresponsive inside the vehicle suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound," police said.
That man was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to police.
Major Crimes division’s detectives are investigating if the incidents are connected, officials said.
