NOTTOWAY COUNTY, Va. -- As more than 3,000 people remain without power in Nottoway County as well Blackstone, Crewe and Burkeville, officials have have set up a shelter as well as warming/charging stations. Water and ready-to-eat meals are also being offered.

OVERNIGHT EMERGENCY SHELTER INFORMATION
Burkeville Elementary School
507 Miller Street Burkeville, VA.
Beginning Saturday, February 20th, at 9:00 A.M. the County-Town Warming Station located at the
Burkeville Elementary School Gymnasium (507 Miller Street) will covert to a 24/7 shelter for the
residents of Nottoway County and the Towns of Blackstone, Crewe, and Burkeville. If needed, citizens
may call the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at 434-538-0156 from 8:00 A.M. – 8:00 P.M. Outside of
those hours citizens needing shelter may call the Nottoway County Sheriff’s Department at 434-645-
9044.

Nottoway County and the Town Volunteer Fire Departments (Blackstone, Burkeville, and Crewe) have
made arrangements to provide access to water and ready to eat meals (REM) for citizens.
Ready to eat meals to be distributed at the following times:
- Friday, February 19, 2021 12:00 noon – 4:00 P.M. at the three warming stations Blackstone
Elementary, Crewe Primary, and Burkeville Elementary
- Saturday, February 20, 2021 12:00 noon – until at the three Volunteer Fire Departments,
Blackstone, Burkeville, and Crewe.
TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE
Blackstone Area Bus Service, located in the Town of Blackstone, offers transportation pick-up services
for citizens needing to be transported to the overnight shelter;
- Wednesday, February 17, 2021, 4 and 6 P.M. at Blackstone Volunteer Fire Department and 5
- and 7 P.M. at Burkeville Volunteer Fire Department
- Thursday, February 18, 2021, 2, 4, and 6 P.M. at Blackstone Volunteer Fire Department and 3, 5,
- and 7 P.M. at Burkeville Volunteer Fire Department
- Friday, February 19, 2021, 2, 4, and 6 P.M. at Blackstone Volunteer Fire Department and 3, 5,

Nottoway County Emergency Squad, located in the Town of Crewe, offers transportation pick-up
services for citizens in the County of Nottoway and the Towns of Blackstone, Crewe, and Burkeville who
need medically assisted transportation to the Crewe Primary School Shelter beginning Wednesday,
February 17, 2021. The point of contact for those services is John Fallen who may be reached at 434-

Burkeville Volunteer Fire Department, located in the Town of Burkeville, offers transportation pick-up
services for residents of the Town of Burkeville who need medically assisted transportation to the Crewe
Primary School Shelter starting Wednesday, February 17, 2021. Citizens may call the Burkeville
Volunteer Fire Department at 434-767-4254 to make arrangements.
DEBRIS REMOVAL STATIONS
The Nottoway County Landfill and Convenience Site Centers have expanded hours of operation for
citizens to bring vegetative storm debris and household trash.
Landfill – 8:30 A.M. – 6 P.M. Beginning Saturday February 20, 2021 and until further notice
- Accepting vegetative storm debris and household trash with fees waived. Citizens are
requested to separate vegetative storm debris from regular household trash.
Convenience Centers – 8:30 A.M. – 6 P.M. Beginning Saturday February 20, 2021 and until
further notice
- Accepting household trash only
