RICHMOND, Va. — The Richmond and Henrico Health Districts plans to hold a free drive-thru COVID-19 community testing event at the Diamond on Tuesday.

The "large-scale" event is set to last from 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. at 3001 N Arthur Ashe Boulevard.

Community Testing Manager Lanier Olsson said the health department has about 400 tests to administer.

Health officials encouraged anyone who traveled out of state or attended a gathering over the Christmas holiday to get tested.

They also reminded the public that getting tested after traveling could be just as important as before.

"Historically, we’ve seen an increase in demand for COVID testing after a holiday," Olsson said. "Folks think back on their time with families and start to wonder if it was the safest option. People want to know their status and we encourage that."

Virginia reported 3,999 more people tested positive for COVID-19 Sunday out of the 24,888 total tests processed since previous day. That brings Virginia's total number of coronavirus cases to 333,576.

For anyone planning to come to Tuesday’s testing event at The Diamond, Olsson recommended they pre-register by calling 804-205-3501.
