RICHMOND, Va. -- In an effort to make Christmas brighter for those in the community, CBS 6 and Virginia Credit Union have teamed up to present the Month of Giving.

Every day, a member of the CBS 6 family will be out in the community surprising someone with a holiday gift.

Reporter Matthew Fultz surprised a woman who spent her Christmas helping others through the nonprofit Blessing Warriors RVA Inc.

"I'm here at the Days Inn motel off of Midlothian Turnpike. We're about to surprise one woman who's been helping feed the homeless for the last five years," said Fultz.

"Your awesome family members told us what you've been doing. You've been helping the homeless for the last five years. You've been through hardships this year, yourself and so we want to be able to get back to you. And so today I got a Christmas present for you. A couple gift cards and some of your favorite places. You guys are really warriors out here helping out and we appreciate it. You deserve it."

Brightening the community's Christmas season is part of CBS 6's Month of Giving mission. Watch for the CBS 6 Month of Giving each day this December on CBS 6 News and WTVR.com.
