HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- Winter is right around the corner and that means the Puritan Cleaners annual Coats for Kids campaign is underway.

CBS 6 and The Richmond Flying Squirrels teamed up with Puritan Cleaners for their annual Coats for Kids Drive Saturday, November 14.

The kick-off Ballpark Warming Party had a slight twist this year. The party, usually held at the Diamond, was a drive-thru at Puritan Cleaners at Willow Lawn.

The goal is to help collect thousands of coats to help children in need.

In the latest edition of CBS 6 Gives, with the help of Virginia Credit Union, CBS 6 presented a special donation to help the worthy cause.

At the drive-thru, Julie Bragg opened up Storm Rider 6 and surprised Puritan Cleaners with a truck full of new and gently worn coats.

"Many of these are brand spanking new. You know, we just wanted to contribute. And we know especially you guys need the little coat sizes for kids. So we've got some a lots of the little ones," said Bragg.

"We always say when we do a CBS 6 Gives that we only ask that you pay it forward. You guys pay it forward, just about every day. So we're thankful to be partners with you."

Donated coats will be dry cleaned and distributed during the holidays.

If you missed the Ballpark Warming Party, you can donate a gently used or new coat at any of the Puritan Cleaners 14 locations or call 804-355-5726.
