HANOVER COUNTY, Va. -- For parents, one of the hardest things they can do is leave their child in the care of someone else while we go to work.

For doctors, nurses and staff members at Memorial Regional Medical Center in Hanover, it's easier to focus knowing their kids are well taken care of by some unsung heroes.

In the latest edition of CBS 6 Gives, anchor Bree Sison wanted to double down on our mission to pay kindness forward and surprise some child care workers at Memorial Regional Medical Center.

CBS 6 placed an order for takeout catering from Richmond-based Soul Taco.

CBS 6 photographer Dwight Nixon served as the delivery driver for the lunches and dropped them off to the Bon Secours Childcare Center associates at Memorial Regional Medical Center.

“It's our way of saying thank you for supporting the frontline workers,” said Sison.

Soul Taco is one of many Richmond restaurants open for business and in need of support from their loyal customers. They also want to give back to others struggling in the food service industry.

“If you come in with whatever t-shirt from wherever you work, we’ll give you a $2 chicken taco. If $2 is too much, we’ll give it to you for free,” said Soul Taco owner Trey Owens. “That’s what we’re trying to do right now to prop up the industry and give back to other restaurants while still trying to keep going forward.”
