RICHMOND, Va. -- Dee's Barber Shop on Laburnum Avenue is offering free haircuts this Labor Day weekend for students heading back to school.
The festive atmosphere was like a carnival Saturday and included a raffle with great prizes like TVs.
“Without the community there wouldn't be a barber shop,” Darnell Kittrell, the owner of Dee's Barber Shop, said. “I think the community is an important piece to the puzzle for ourselves surviving, so I really give back."
This was their first year Kittrell offered the free cuts and he said they plan to do it again.
