COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. -- The shattered glass matches the shattered sense of security for people living at Lakeview Village on Lakeview Avenue in Colonial Heights. Someone opened fire outside the apartments early Friday morning. While the gunshots seemed to have missed the people who live there, they left behind bullet holes in windows and cars parked outside.

Alishia Wall, who moved into her apartment late last year, said this was the first crime she'd experienced since moving into the neighborhood.
"It's a peaceful neighborhood. For that to have happened last night, it's very shocking," Wall said.

Wall said it was between 1:30 and 2 a.m. that she heard multiple gunshots, more than a dozen, outside.
Due to the number of shots fired, she said it appeared the gunman was targeting one of her neighbor's apartments.

Wall said she felt blessed because her two-year-old son, who normally sleeps near the window, was with his grandparents last night.
"My son sleeps in those rooms. That could have been my son's room," she said. "Thank God [the people who lived in apartment] 11 moved out. They had children in that room too."

By the time Wall felt safe enough to leave her apartment, she said she saw police taking pictures and collecting evidence outside. She said she never saw or heard an ambulance.

The property owner is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.
