State Fair of Virginia Opens September 26th and runs through October 4th. Fair hours Fridays and Saturdays 10am – 10pm, Sundays 10am – 9pm and Monday – Thursday 10am – 9pm. Concerts: Josh Thompson – September 25th, 8pm;  Jackass Flats September 26th, 7:30pm; Chris Janson (Buy me a boat) September 28th, 7pm – Little River Band – October 2th, 7:30pm; The Charlie Daniels Band – October 4th, 8pm. Attractions: Young McDonald’s Farm, Cow Milking, Sandscapes – artists create large-scale sand sculptures, giant pumpkins & watermelons, heritage village. Sisters Network Central Virginia Chapter’s 11th annual Gift for Life Block Walk, Saturday, September 26th 9am – 2pm at Church of Christ at Sandy Lane, 3201 Sandy Lane. 7th annual Festival of Grapes & Hops, Petersburg Chamber of Commerce Saturday, September 26, 11am – 5pm, Petersburg Old Towne Historic District.
