RICHMOND: Turning 25 – time to bring the family together and celebrate. Richmond’s family friendly festival, The Down Home Family Reunion turns 25 and celebrates African-American Folklife as well as sharing global African Cultural Influences in Richmond and surrounding areas. The Family Festival is Saturday, August 15 in Abner Clay in Historic Jackson Ward, Belvidere & West Leigh Streets from 4 – 11pm.
The Reunion features The Delfonics, Afrobeat with The Republic of Benin’s Jah Baba, Lady E & The Blues Sensations, BanCaribe, African Dance, Music and the Oral Tradition with the Elegba Folklore Society and more. J. Ron Fleming returns as the Emcee, there’s the Heritage Market, food and young performers. The event is free and open to the public, food is pay as you go.
