PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Va. — A Hopewell man is dead and two others were transported to area  hospitals after a single-vehicle accident early Sunday morning.

Police were dispatched to an accident in the 4600 block of Ruffin Road shortly before 2 a.m.

When officers arrived they found 26-year-old Shawn Hambleton, of Hopewell, dead at the scene. Hambleton had been ejected for the vehicle during the accident.

The driver, identified as 25-year-old Jesse Tomlin, of Virginia Beach, was flown to VCU Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. A 19-year-old Hopewell woman was transported to Southside Regional Medical Center.

Police said the vehicle was traveling south along the 4600 block of Ruffin Road when the vehicle exited the roadway, hit a culvert and overturned.

No charges have been filed in this case. While the case remains under investigation, police said they do believe alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.
