CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- A mother and her son are charged with threatening a Chesterfield County family earlier this month.
Felicia Porter, 47, and her son McGayle Porter, 25, are charged with threatening the family of Deonte Lewis, who is the father of Felicia Porter's grandchild.
Police allege that both Porters drove from their house off Mike Road to the Lewis' home on Bonnie Brac Road on May 16.
That's when court paperwork suggests that McGayle Porter pulled out a gun. Prior to the incident, court paperwork alleges Felicia Porter sent threatening texts.
"No, I am not guilty on what I sent him in the text messages," Felicia Porter said in an interview.
When pressed by WTVR CBS 6 reporter Joe St. George if she regretted sending the text message, she said that she did.
"I do, but I regret my daughter ever having a baby with that family," Porter added.
Porter said she only sent the text to protect her daughter and her grandchild after she claimed vicious dogs threatened their lives.
Deonte Lewis' family said there was no reason for the threats and that they look forward to the July 30 court date.
"This is ridiculous if she needs to be back in her grandson's life she needs to conduct herself as an adult," Francine Douglas, Deonte Lewis's grandmother.
Todd Stone, a legal analyst for WTVR CBS 6, said that while McGayle Porter is accused of displaying a gun, he is only charged with a misdemeanor. Meanwhile his mother, who allegedly sent threatening texts, faces felony charges.
"She's charged with a felony so that is punishable by up to five years in prison. He is charged with brandishing a firearm -- that's punishable by up to 12 months in prison," Stone said.
