Summer-like warmth & humidity the next few days

RICHMOND, Va. – The warm, more humid air has returned to central Virginia and will be with us the next few days.  A ridge of high pressure over the Atlantic will slowly slide south and east, allowing scattered storms to move across parts of the area each afternoon.

If you’re heading out to Dominion Riverrock this evening, the festivities should be clear of rain, but it will be warm and a bit on the muggy side.

Tomorrow will be cloudier than today with a higher threat for scattered storms, mainly during the late afternoon and early evening.  Not everyone will see rain, but if one comes by, it could produce torrential rain and gusty winds, along with frequent lightning.

Here’s a look at our latest computer model projection for mid-afternoon tomorrow.  Notice the scattered storms once again developing to the north of the metro.  There’s a greater chance these slide into the Richmond area by early evening.

The heat and humidity will hang around for the beginning of the work week, before a cold front arrives on Tuesday.  That will usher in milder and drier air for Wednesday and Thursday.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
