RICHMOND, Va. -- A gas leak in downtown Richmond prompted the evacuation of several buildings within a two-block radius of the 100 block of North 8th Street Tuesday morning. A contractor working in the area hit a gas line and caused the leak, according to Richmond Fire spokesman Lt. Christopher Armstrong. People were allowed back in their buildings once the leak was fixed.

No injuries were reported as a result of the gas leak.
