NORMAN, Okla. — The University of Oklahoma is investigating a video that apparently shows several members of a fraternity chanting racial slurs. The 10-second video filmed on Saturday and released by Unheard, a student organization at OU, appears to show members of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity chanting “there will never be a nig*** in SAE.” The chant continues, “you can hang them from a tree, but they’ll never sign with me.”

Editor’s note: The video contains racist and abusive language. Viewer discretion advised.

According to the organization, the people shown in the video attend OU. University officials have not confirmed the people in the video are students at the university. KFOR is reporting the video was filmed Saturday on the way to a date party for the fraternity’s founder’s day.

OU President David Boren released a statement on Sunday saying, “If the video is indeed of OU students, this behavior will not be tolerated and is contrary to all of our values. We are investigating.”

On Sunday, the national president of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity said the OU chapter has been placed on “immediate cease and desist.”
