HENRICO, Va. — A water main break and subfreezing temperatures have closed all lanes of Gayton Road from Quioccasin to Gaskins roads.
The break, which occurred near Gayton and Clearwood Road, has not affected water service, according to the Department of Public Utilities. The agency expects to complete repairs and reopen the road by 9 p.m. Friday.
Traffic will be routed to Gaskins. Crews will continue to allow neighborhood traffic on Gayton, through the work zone.
The frigid temperatures have forced the road closure because water from the break is freezing on Gayton and creating a sheet of ice.
