Police: Husband purchased GHB to drug, sexually assault wife

HALL COUNTY, Ga. — A Hall County, Georgia man has been charged in an attempt to have a stranger sexually assault his wife after she is drugged with GHB according to affiliate WGCL.

Law enforcement agents arrested 50-year-old Timothy Garrett after an undercover investigation.

The Gainesville man was the subject of the investigation in January when he placed an advertisement on Craig’s List.

In the advertisement, Garrett solicited that he wanted to purchase GHB, which is commonly known as the date rape drug, to drug his wife and have a stranger sexually assault her while he participated in the assault.

Agents with the Multi Agency Narcotics Squad along with Hall County Sheriff’s Office deputies and investigators worked together in the investigation. Undercover agents corresponded with Garrett. He purchased what he believed was GHB from the agents while another agent posed as a potential rapist.

Garrett is was booked into the Hall County Jail. He is charged with possession of GHB with the intent to distribute and criminal attempt to commit rape.
