HERSHEY, Penn. — Brace yourself.
There’s some mighty sweet news for chocolate and peanut butter lovers who have eaten their way through their Halloween candy stash.
This week, Hershey’s unveiled Reese’s Spreads, a jarred concoction touted as melding the iconic flavors of the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup.
“Reese’s Spreads offer an authentic Reese’s experience to fans who are looking for delicious snack options throughout the day,” Daren Russ, a Hershey’s brand manager, wrote in a news release.
The launch comes during peanut butter lovers month and as chocolate spread sales skyrocket in the US.
In fact, worldwide sales of Nutella, the popular creamy blend of chocolate and hazelnuts, increased 11.9 percent in 2013. And Euromonitor reports sales of the sweet stuff jumped 5.9 percent in the US in 2013.
Ferrero, the company which makes Nutella along with other confections, consumes 25 percent of the world’s hazelnut supply.
