RICHMOND, Va. - A staple in the Richmond community, Nesbit Salon and Day Spa on Main Street closed its doors last week without warning.
Nesbit owners Greg and Carol Nestor, who informed employees Wednesday night they were shutting down the business, have not been heard from since.
Former Nesbit customer Maria Lloyd, who has been coming to the Richmond salon and day spa for 10 years, was shocked to find a closed for sale sign on the door when she arrived Friday.
“Doors are shut, everyone is gone [and] the owner is nowhere to be found,” Lloyd said. “I’m over $1,000 out. I've prepaid all the tips on all the packages I've purchased I have gift cards I haven’t even used.”
Nesbit property owner Michael Wood wanted to help the stranded customers, so he suggested to bring in the unredeemed gift cards or pre-purchased services to the Y-Y salon located on West Main Street.
In fact, the salon will register the gift cards and apply a portion of its value to their services.
Additionally, former Nesbit employees have created "EX Nebit," a Fabebook page so that clients can reconnect with their stylists.
