RICHMOND, Va - With Breast Cancer Awareness Month in full swing, Dr. Gilda Cardenosa, Director of VCU Breast Imaging, stopped by the studio to stress the importance of monthly breast self-exams and professional checkups, as well as a couple of events regarding breast health. VCU Massey Cancer Center will host a Screening Soirée After Party on October 7th. Former Women & Wellness speaker, cancer survivor, and author, Geralyn Lucas will be at The Byrd Theatre for a special screening of the movie based on her first book, Why I Wore Lipstick to My Masectomy. The show starts at 6pm and includes a meet and greet and book signing with Geralyn. Dr. Cardenosa will also present a free seminar on MRIs and how it can be a useful diagnostic tool when combined with mammography and breast ultrasounds.
