Yonkers, NY  —  A 40-year-old man who was trying to save a drowning boy was found dead in the Hudson River by the JFK Marina, according to authorities.

Police say a group of people were having a BBQ when a four-year-old was seen struggling inside the Marina.

The victim and three other men entered the water to save the child, but the deceased went missing after the toddler was brought to shore.

Rescue units from Yonkers Fire Department and Police Department, and NYPD scuba units searched for two hours until his body was found.

Information on the child’s recovery condition was not immediately available, reported WPIX.
