RICHMOND, Va, – An icon in both Richmond and Virginia politics has denied rumors of his imminent retirement.
“I am not retiring,” Virginia Senator Henry Marsh (D – RICHMOND) told CBS 6 political reporter Joe St. George Thursday.
Multiple sources within Richmond City Hall said speculation has been growing in recent weeks that Marsh’s retirement may come as soon as this summer. Such speculation was confirmed by Delegate Rosalyn Dance (D – PETERSBURG).
“It has been a little rumor,” Dance said. “But I have not heard that from the Senator,” she added.
The source of the retirement rumor is unknown.
Marsh, 80, has served Richmond in the General Assembly since 1992.
He was Mayor of Richmond in the late 1970s.
