RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR)– This Memorial Day you can count on more than just free fireworks by the river, there will also be music, food trucks and tons of kids activities.

Bypass all the Memorial Day holiday traffic and head to Rocketts Landing for fireworks and music.

This is the 3rd annual Rockets Red Glare Fireworks Celebration, held on Sunday, May 25th, and sponsored by The Boathouse. Last year more than 6,000 people attended.

Probably because it offers such a fantastic view. Just picture it: fireworks exploding in the sky are reflected from the river below.

The free event kicks off with Colin Healy performing at 5:30 p.m., followed by Kings of Swing at 6:30 p.m. and they will perform until about 9 p.m., leading into fireworks.

Some of Richmond’s favorite food trucks will be set up shop, and you will have your choice of craft beer, wine and other beverages.

Food trucks Mosaic, Goatocado, Slideways, Casa del Barco, The Hungry Turtle, Halligan Bar and Grille, Kona Ice, Zzaam Fresh Korean Grill and King of Pops will be there.

Make sure to get there early enough to grab a good parking spot, and bring a blanket or chair.

The event starts at 5:30 p.m., fireworks at 9 p.m. Displays runs about 15 minutes.
