RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) — Richmond utility crews responded to a ruptured water line that gushed high into the air shortly before noon Sunday.
Officials said a contractor was digging along Lynhaven Avenue and Royall Avenue on the city’s South Side when his machinery clipped a water main making a small hole.
Pressure built underneath the street causing the water to spew up from the ground.
People living nearby said they were warned that the pipe was about to burst.
A CBS 6 viewer captured video of the chaos. She said all streets were blocked off as crews tried to shut off the water.
