RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – The Posing Beauty in African American Culture exhibit opened Sunday at Richmond’s Leslie Cheek Theater.
A CBS 6 crew dropped by to the display to see the works of various artists designed to spark a conversation race, class, gender, pop culture and politics in art.
Celeste Fetta, who helped bring the exhibit to the River City, called the show was a success.
“We are realty pleased with the turnout,” Fetta said. “This is one of the first times we’ve offered a lecture on a Sunday afternoon… We’re just trying it out to see if it works – and I think it does.”
Author Deborah Willis delivered a lecture "Re-framing Black is Beautiful.”
