Police nab pool hall murder suspects in Petersburg

PETERSBURG, Va. (WTVR) — Petersburg police arrested four suspects Sunday in connection with a North Carolina man’s murder at a pool hall last week.

According to Petersburg police, James Keith Nelson and Dudley Lamar Kee were wanted by police in Raleigh, N.C. for the death of Marcus Rasheed Owens on Feb. 18.

WRAL reports that Owens died in the hospital late Friday after he was shot just before midnight Tuesday at  at Bar and Billiards on South Saunders St. in Raleigh.

Investigators said Owens was shot after a verbal altercation.

Police said the suspects were arrested without incident Sunday morning at the Super 8 Motel in the 3000 block of  S. Crater Rd. in Petersburg.

The two were arrested, along with two North Carolina women. Erica Delvern Burnell and Christina Nicole Barnes, for their involvement after Owen’s murder.

All four suspects, which were  charged with being a fugitive from justice, are being held at the Petersburg City Jail pending extradition.

The arrest was a coordinated effort between the Raleigh and Petersburg police departments.
